I am a self-taught product and portrait photographer now based in Canada. I have attended 'Basic Photography' and 'Food To Go' Workshops by Jo Avila, 'Food Photography' by Rod Banzon and various open workshop and seminars in Manila, Philippines to supplement the knowledge and skills. My portrait photography inspirations come from Neil van Neikerk.
Flower and insects were my main subjects when I got serious with photography. I have done close-up and macro photography using a digital point and shoot camera. I studied and learned basic photography with it. As I have progressed, I bought myself a Digital-SLR (DSLR) and started taking stock photos and contributed to Fotolia.com.
Trying to explore other types of photography, I joined photography clubs and participated in their activities especially those involving portraiture. I also started a group and formed our own activities. I also created workshops for our group where I share the knowledge and experience I have gained.
Recently, I concentrated more on product photography. It's a challenging and fulfilling type of photography. I've learned that there's more than one way to get one "hero" shot. I always challenge myself to get the "hero" shot in one take if possible and minimize the post-production. I give attention to details, trying out different techniques, and pushing the limits of my patience and creativity.
